Newsletter ๐ฐ
Hello Parents and Caregivers! We had a fantastic time on our field trip to the greenhouse this week. Students were engaged, curious, and excited to connect their learning to the real world. A big thank you to our parent volunteers for supporting the trip and helping make it such a success! ๐ฟ
โ๏ธ Literacy โ Poetry Wrap-Up
We are wrapping up our poetry unit, with students finalizing their own collections and continuing to build their skills in expressing ideas clearly through writing.
โ Math โ Time, Fractions & Money
We are continuing to move quickly through concepts, with a focus on applying our learning through problem solving. We are transitioning from fractions and money into learning about time. Students will use their understanding of fractions to explore these relationships (e.g., half an hour, quarter past, quarter to), while solving problems that connect time, fractions, money, and more.
๐งช Science โ Plant Experiments
We are taking care of our plants as we learn about what they need to survive. Soon, students will be planting new seeds as part of their own small science experiments. They will be asking questions and testing ideas such as:
๐ Can a seed grow in the dark?
โ Can a plant survive only drinking coffee?
๐จ Will a plant change colour if given coloured water?
This will help build their understanding of scientific inquiry and observation.
๐ Social Studies โ Minecraft & Ontario
You might have heard some excited talk about Minecraft in class! Students will be recreating natural and human-made landmarks โ buildings, lakes, rivers, forests, amusement parks, and museums โ in Minecraft. Together, we will build our own map of Ontario while learning about communities across the province and the features that make each area unique.
๐ Library Reminder
Library is on Wednesday (Day 3). Please return any missing or overdue books.
Have a great week! โ Steve
