May 2026 โ€” End of Year Update

What We Are Learning ๐ŸŒฑ

Hello Families! We are in the final stretch of a wonderful year. Students have grown so much and continue to show great effort and curiosity every day. Here is a general overview of what we are working on as we move through May and June.

๐Ÿ“ EQAO
Students in Grade 3 will be completing their EQAO assessments over the next couple of weeks. These are province-wide tests in reading, writing, and math. The best way to support your child is to make sure they arrive well-rested, have eaten a good breakfast, and feel calm and confident. They have been working hard all year and are well prepared!

โœ๏ธ Literacy
We have wrapped up our poetry unit and students are continuing to build their reading and writing skills โ€” focusing on expressing ideas clearly, summarizing, and responding to texts with detail and understanding.

โž• Math
We have covered a lot of ground this year โ€” multiplication, division, fractions, area, perimeter, time, and money. Students continue to strengthen these skills through problem solving and applied thinking.

๐Ÿงช Science โ€” Plants & Soil
Students are running their own plant experiments, investigating questions like: Can a seed grow in the dark? Will a plant change colour with coloured water? This hands-on unit connects science inquiry, observation, and real-world thinking.

๐ŸŒ Social Studies โ€” Ontario in Minecraft
Students are building a map of Ontario in Minecraft, recreating natural and human-made landmarks across the province. It is a creative and engaging way to learn about communities, geography, and what makes each region of Ontario unique.

๐Ÿ“š Library
Library is on Thursday. Please ensure any overdue books are returned.

Thank you for a wonderful year of partnership and support. โ€” Steve
