Hello Families! Spring has arrived, and we are enjoying the warmer weather, longer days, and fresh energy in the classroom! This month, students are continuing to build on their learning while exploring new topics across subjects.
โ๏ธ Literacy โ Poetry Month
April is Poetry Month! Students are discovering the fun of playing with words, sounds, and structure. They are also continuing to practice writing clear and detailed short answer responses.

โ Math
This month students will be working on multiplication, division, fractions, and strategies to strengthen their number sense. Activities will help build fluency and confidence with a variety of math skills.
๐ Social Studies โ Ontario
We are exploring the beautiful province of Ontario, learning about its maps, geology, geography, and the unique features of different regions.
๐งช Science โ Plants & Soil
After completing our unit on Forces and Structures, we are now beginning a unit on plants and soil. Students will investigate how plants grow, what they need to thrive, and the role of soil in supporting life.

Poetry Month activities and student creations, opportunities to connect learning to the season of spring, and special events will be shared as they come up!
Field Trip โ Toronto Urban Studies Centre Greenhouse ๐ฟ
We have a field trip booked for Wednesday, April 29, 2026! This will be a full-day trip to the Toronto Urban Studies Centre Greenhouse, located at Danforth and Broadview. Students will participate in hands-on learning connected to plants and the environment โ a perfect extension of our current Science unit!
๐ Travel: We will be travelling by TTC. A few parent/guardian volunteers are needed to support the trip โ please reach out if you are available to join us!
๐ฐ Cost: The trip is $7.50. If this presents any difficulty, please let me know โ arrangements can be made to ensure all students are able to attend.
๐ Next Steps: A permission form will be emailed to you shortly, and payment details will be shared with families by email next week. If you cannot complete the form online, please let me know.
What to Bring Each Day ๐
๐ Agenda โ bring to and from school daily. Signed by Mr. Richman before leaving; signed by a caregiver each night.
๐ฑ Lunch & snacks โ healthy snacks encouraged. No peanut or nut products.
๐ง Reusable water bottle โ filled and ready each morning.
๐ Running shoes โ for gym. On wet/snowy days, please send indoor and outdoor shoes.
๐ท๏ธ Label everything! โ clothes, lunch bags, snack bags, food containers, and backpacks.
